The New Post Rock group on Facebook introduced me to this band. I haven't been listening to very much post rock lately...that's gonna have to change.

No Clear Mind
I stumbled across this band on YouTube yesterday. They barely have over 2,000 listens on LastFM. Not exactly sure where to get a hold of their material, but you can visit their MySpace here.

The Calm Blue Sea
I have been slacking on music exploration! It's been a chaotic month with my fellowship, an additional internship with yourstory.in, and ONCE AGAIN...job hunting. My plan is to move to San Francisco in the Spring after I finish up in India. SF has good music, good food, and good skateboarding. What else could I want? Anyways, the point being, I'm slacking. I need a schedule! So from now on I am going to force myself to update this blog every Monday and Friday, time to step it up. Look out for new music, and while you are at it, have a listen to The Calm Blue Sea

The Best Pessimist
I've put off listening to The Best Pessimist for a longtime now, and I wish I hadn't. There is something really captivating about Surgey Lunev's atmospheric landscapes. Most of his songs can be downloaded for free from his Last FM page.

Nebulo
I've been off traveling for the past eight days, so I haven't been able to keep up with my blogs much, but I did listen to this song on many long bus rides throughout Rajasthan. Another French musician that makes great ambient.

Burial
I have always been so intrigued with Post-rock and Ambient music because for me it has the ability to evoke emotion from deep within. And a wide array of emotions at that: loneliness, joy, emptiness, depression, happiness, hope. That is exactly why this music is so addicting to me. And on a whole I cannot find other types of music that spark so much emotion from within. However, that is not to say other music cannot do the same. I have found that Doom, Drone, and even in the case of today's post, Dub, can do the same. I have never restricted myself to one type of music, but I think I have a lot to learn from other types of music. I came across the song "Forgive" by Burial about six months ago and have not stopped listening to him since. His music truly moves me. I am not sure where I am going with this, I guess all I can say is...cheers to music that has the power to change your mood.

Tycho
I am confused as to how I had not heard Tycho until today. I've been listening to The Album Leaf for the past four years, but haven't visited his Last FM page in a grip. When I visited the page today someone commented about Tycho, there are definitely some similarities. Ahhhh, music discovery.
